Angelica's love for crystals and all things sparkly started when she was a child growing up in Romania. But her particular take on bling wasn’t easy considering the scarce availability of materials in Romania at the time. She jokes that her customization of stage clothing “didn’t burn down my father’s garage”, but she did cut up her mother’s burgundy velvet curtains to make a dress that she wore on stage.

When later she moved to Canada, Angelica started using Swarovski Crystals in her stage outfits and shoes. This led her to offer her services to others, and took it further by crystallizing microphones, musical instruments, accent walls, and brought her own personal touch of bling even to various retail locations. Due to the high quality of her craftsmanship, soon after Angelica became a Swarovski Branding Partner. Her knowledge in this industry allowed her to further develop her engineering abilities to bolder, luxury items, one of them being the Classic Indian Motorcycle.

Canadian Singer customizes a Chief Classic with Swarovski Crystals
Angelica Ganea takes bling to a whole new level with the Crystallized Indian Motorcycle

(Wednesday, 1st July 2015) - An up and coming singer has covered an Indian Motorcycle Chief Classic from headlight to tail in Swarovski Crystals, each one painstakingly placed by hand.

The ‘Crystallized Indian Motorcycle’ as it’s been called, is actually a 2014 Chief Classic and has close to 200,000 Swarovski crystals glued on to it (Video here). Angelica Ganea says: “I wanted to stay true to the original color of the motorcycle, so I used Jet Black colored Swarovski crystals. The pattern I used on the bike is not something you normally see in this kind of work. While other people only use one size of crystal, which can make a pattern look uneven, I used many different sizes of Swarovski crystals, starting from the size of the head of a pin. This is much harder to do, but the end result is seamless.”

It has taken Angelica Ganea close to 1,500 hours to complete the Crystallized Indian Motorcycle, saying that she did it “for her music”. “I do consider myself very lucky,” she says. “To be able to love doing this kind of intricate work so much, to the point where placing 200,000 crystals becomes meditation to me. ”

Angelica Ganea started singing at the age of 6 and at 19 she won a national singing competition in her home country of Romania. Her love for crystals, sequins, beads and all things sparkly started when she was a child. Her particular take on bling wasn’t easy considering the availability of materials in Romania at the time. She jokes that her customization of clothing and music equipment“didn’t burn down her father’s garage”, but she did cut up her mother’s burgundy velvet curtains to make a dress that she then wore on stage to sing in. When she was older, she moved to Canada and this is where she started to use Swarovski Crystals in her stage outfits and shoes. She took it even further by crystallizing microphones and musical instruments and even making custom monogram cake toppers. This led her to offer her services to others and very soon, because of the high quality of her craftsmanship, she became a Swarovski Branding Partner.

Angelica Ganea explains how it came about: “In 2010 I started working on perfecting my technique in crystal application. I tried out many different types of glue, worked with various materials and made sure the final product is not only very beautiful but also 100% durable. Then in 2012 I was approved as a Swarovski Branding Partner, which is a certificate of authenticity.” Confident in the quality of her craft, Angelica Ganea then decided to tackle a much larger item and this is where she had the idea to cover a motorcycle, but not just any motorcycle, but an Indian Chief Classic.

The Chief Classic has become one of the best-selling models for Indian Motorcycle since the brand was re-launched by parent company Polaris. This particular model is finding favor with modern-day riders who crave a machine that has heritage, rustic appeal and American beauty. With guts, faith and sheer determination, Angelica Ganea has pulled off the Crystallized Indian Motorcycle and has created a one-of-a-kind motorcycle. “I believe people are capable of being excellent at more than one thing,” she says. “Whoever invented the saying ‘Jack of all trades, master at none’ is someone who is yet to find the depth of their own potential.”
